A Race Against Blindness Fundraiser: 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma and Voyager Xpedition Trailer Overland Build
We are honored to join forces again with Doetsch Off-Road to help create an exceptional overland build for A Race Against Blindness. The sweepstake went live on February 16th, and it will remain open until 11:59 pm MST on May 26th. All proceeds raised from entries will help fund research and treatments for childhood blindness.
A Race Against Blindness was started by Kristina and Steve Johnston after their son Luke was diagnosed with a rare condition that is causing him to slowly lose his eyesight. Since learning about their son’s diagnosis, they have helped fund research and clinical trials aimed at finding a treatment for those diagnosed with blindness, Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS), Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), and other low-vision disorders. To help raise funds for their non-profit, A Race Against Blindness hosts fundraisers where they give away event tickets, vacation packages, and outstanding vehicle builds.
2024 Toyota Tacoma Features

The 4th Gen Tacoma Trailhunter was custom built by Doetsch Off-Road, and it sports a colorful wrap that gives the truck a sleek exterior styling. The Trailhunter package offers Old Man Emu shocks, an iForce hybrid engine, upgraded interior, and snorkel to protect the Tacoma’s engine from water, dust, and other debris when off-road. This overland build features a Westcott Designs 1.5-inch Lift Kit and Westcott Powder Coated Rock Sliders. It also sports 17-inch Method Race Wheels with 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler Tires. All of the featured lights, including the rock light mounts that provide stellar lighting underneath the truck, are provided by Rigid Industries. To help complete Doetsch’s build, we donated an array of 4th Gen Tacoma parts to give the truck additional off-road utility.
For front-end protection, the Tacoma features a Rago Center Mount Front Bumper with a Warn Industries EVO 10-S Winch and a Rigid Industries Light Bar. The truck also offers a Rago Rear Bumper that runs two Rigid Industries Pod Lights. Our Universal Bed Rack Crossmembers are used to mount the Freespirit Recreation Tent. The Rago Light Pocket Roof Rack features our Rigid Industries Round Light Mount that is equipped with six 6-inch RIGID Round Lights for enhanced visibility when on the trail. The rack is also fully outfitted with five pairs of our Roof Rack Decking Panels for enhanced mounting capabilities. The Tacoma’s truck bed provides Rago Bed Cab and Bed Side Molle Panels for keeping overland and off-road gear organized and secure. Additionally, the winner of the Tacoma can confidently navigate rough terrain with the Rago Ditch Light Brackets that feature RIGID Pod Lights. For a finishing touch, the build features Rago Bed Channel Stiffeners to protect the bed from cracking during off-road adventures.
Without a doubt, this 2024 Tacoma build is ready to tackle technical trails, weekend camping trips, and any overland adventure thrown its way. However, the excitement doesn’t end there. Thanks to Xpedition Trailers, this A Race Against Blindness set-up provides even more overland capabilities!
